What is ECSTATIC DANCE
“let your soul dance”
Ecstatic Dance was born out of love for the sun, dance and nature. Dance is a beautiful way to celebrate life, cultivate community and connect with pure joy. The intention of Ecstatic Dance is to create a sacred space for people to dance freely and experience pure joy.
Ecstatic Dance began as outside activity in nature dancing in the sun. Dancers’ hearts opened while they experienced a deeper connection to mother earth, the trees and the sun.
Dance is a social experience for anyone who likes to dance to joyful and inspiring music in a safe environment. It is a welcoming space for people to pray and get in touch with their hearts desires. The tones are a blend of world drum beat and modern electronic music.
Q: What is the structure of the dance?
Ecstatic Dance in its most basic definition is free-form dance inspired by music, allowing our bodies to move freely without judgment or concern for the “grace” of the dance. This is the dance you dance when nobody is watching! It develops a direct body-spirit connection, letting your body and inner guide be your teacher. It’s about being present with your own energy and discovering your own dance.
No dance experience or partner is necessary. It’s a perfect outlet for those who think they “can’t dance” and for experienced dancers alike. It is free-form, not a structured dance. It is an environment without observers or conversation, where you can feel safe to try new things and really push the envelope. Ecstatic dance is easy. There is no wrong way to dance.
The experiences are an hour an half, starting with an opening circle where we introduce ourselves to each other and connect the energy of the group. Starting with a gentle warm-up, we begin to dance. We end the dance with some time in silence and then we come back together for a closing circle. At that point participants are free to share wisdom they may have gained, their experience or just sit in the beautiful energy of the group. We close giving thanks.
Some of the benefits if the ecstatic dance are incredible energy, excitement, aliveness and release of stuck patterns in your body, emotions, mind and spirit.
Q: What kind of music do you play?
The music is carefully selected to feel uplifting and inspiring. At the beginning and end the music is slow pace, harmonious and heart opening. After the first half an hour the music gradually gets more energetic. Some songs have primordial drum beat helping people ground and get out of the thinking mode. Our DJ’s play a wide spectrum of different genres from world music to get down electronic music.
Q: Who should come?
Ecstatic Dance is appropriate for those of any age, gender and lifestyle who like music and want to have fun.
“Your events are transformational.” Jeff
“Boulder’s Ecstatic Dance is my monthly reset. Simona creates a joyful and powerful space where it’s easy to just let go and dance! Every time I leave the dance, I do so with peace in my heart and joy for my next step in life.” Almina Hodek
“Dancing to Simona’s musical guidance is like tapping into the mystical vortex of pure energy and truth. Her musical choices create a personal journey through the deep complexities & challenges of being human.” CJ
“It’s so great in here on the dance floor, I’m inhaling it so I can take it with me.” Noah
“I’ve always loved to dance, but I never before experienced it as a pure “organic-spirit-body” active mediation. Once I let go into pure unselfconscious movement, it became a dance with the Divine Mother. Your ‘super-juicy’ choices in music and rhythm changes guided my energy-psyche flow. Your music feels expansive, rich and deep. The evening of Ecstatic Dance was fantastic, I’ll be back.” Jeff
